Research Activities

  • Work in the field of Freudian psychoanalysis and its evolution: the paradigm of family and couple psychoanalysis and its applications in institutions. – Opening the field of contemporary psychoanalysis to healthcare and medico-social institutions. Work on new psychoanalytic care systems. Research concerning the psychopathology of the bond and the unconscious psychic transmission of bonding modalities between generations, in the psychoanalytic field.
The main hypotheses developed during the research: These are the bonding modalities that are transmitted unconsciously between generations. There is a primary imprint of bonding modalities, imbued with transgenerational influences, in each individual subject. This is what causes the repetition compulsion, with the resulting enjoyment. Somatizations and psychological dysfunctions are partly a consequence of this. Symptoms have transgenerational roots and are also in touch with current contingencies. Psychopathology is multifactorial. The transgenerational is part of the unconscious psychological transmission across generations. Traumas, encrypted in lineages, generate “true traces without memory” says E. Granjon, ghosts, which are deposited on descendants and cause symptoms. We inherit unconscious functioning in the links that are transmitted through the generations. Our job as subjects is to transform them in order to transmit them in turn. "What you inherited from your fathers in order to possess it, conquer it," wrote Goethe, taken up by Freud. An Arab proverb
says “if you bury the devil in your garden, he will resurface in that of your son” Group psychoanalytic work (mediation-based therapeutic groups, psychoanalytic family and couple therapy) is particularly suited to developing these transgenerational aspects that are deposited in the systems themselves, requiring an analysis of the transferential field. I am thinking here of P. Benghozi’s work on figurability.
