Dr Giuseppe Saraò
He has lived in Florence for many years, born in Sicily (Milazzo-Me).
Graduated in medicine and surgery in November 1979 at the University of Florence, subsequently specialized in Psychiatry, University of Florence (1983).
Since 1980 he has worked in the mental health services of the city of Florence (ASL 10). He has dealt with the therapy of serious patients and directed the «Psychiatric Therapeutic Center of Borgognissanti» (from 1990 to 1999).
From 2000 to 2015 he directed the Adult Mental Health service, Florence 2.
Since 2016 he has been working as a freelancer, as a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst.
Since 2000 he has been associated as a psychoanalyst of the Italian Psychoanalytic Society (IPA), since 2010 as an ordinary member.
Former Contract Professor, University of Florence (Psychology Faculty, 4th year) taught:
“Psychodynamics of groups”.
He is part of the editorial staff of the magazine “Interactions, clinic and psychoanalytic research on individual-couple-family”, directed by A. Maria Nicolò.
He teaches at the “Post-specialist specialization course and clinical research in psychoanalytic psychotherapy of the couple and the family”; the teaching topic is: “Psychopathology of the parental couple and the family in institutional contexts”
Founder together with others (president for 4 years) of the Centro Ricerca Psicoanalitica Coppia-Famiglia of Florence (C.R.P.C-F).
From 2016 to 2020 President of the Centro Psicoanalitico of Florence (SPI- IPA).
Since 2023 President of the Italian Society of Psychoanalysis of the Couple and the Family (PCF).
